Floor Coverings International Douglas County Review SUMMARY We would have considered this to be an excellent or very good installation had it been completed in one day as planned. Given the delays, subsequent miscommunications, and the time spent waiting for workers to arrive we rate the installation as average. Note that time will tell whether the material and craftsmanship prove to be at a high level. To determine whether you believe this rating is fair additional details follow. DETAILS Our project involved the replacement of the carpeting in all three bedrooms of our home, a separate master closet, and stairs to the basement. We chose to recarpet all areas except for one bedroom being used as an office where we had vinyl flooring installed that matched the existing vinyl flooring install in the adjoining hallway and remainder of our home. Jasmen Perlman-Dyer came to our home and worked with us to choose carpeting. She was very helpful in the carpet selection process and the carpeting she helped us choose looks great in the locations where it is installed. She was able to confirm they could obtain the vinyl flooring that was needed for the installation and what was ordered matches perfectly. A proposal was supplied to us that outlined the work to be performed, their responsibilities, our responsibilities, and the cost. The cost quoted was reasonable and some small amendments we requested were added. We signed the agreement and a date for installation was established based on the delivery times for the materials required, the vendor installation team availability, and our availability. A down payment (50% of the total) was required at time of signature, with the remainder being due at completion of the process. Payment by check or credit card is available but a 3.5% processing fee exists when using credit cards. The two installers arrived as scheduled. We had almost every bit of furniture moved out of the areas being impacted, and the installers helped move the few heavy items we couldn’t handle ourselves. One individual handled installation of the vinyl flooring and the other was responsible for installation of the carpeting. The carpeting installation was completed around 5pm that day. The carpet installer helped us move back the heavier items before he left. We believe the installer did a good job, but how good the job was won’t be known for years. Our only complaint is that there is a small area where some unevenness exists in the master bedroom carpeting where a seam is located. The vinyl flooring installation was unable to be completed as planned in a single day because an insufficient amount of flooring was ordered. We were told the shortage was because the bedroom closet was not included when calculating the amount of flooring needed. This first phase of the installation was completed in about 3 hours. A date one week later was set for completion based on the arrival of the flooring. On that date the installer did not arrive in the morning as planned and we contacted Jasmen to determine whether there was an issue around noon. We were informed the materials were shipped to the wrong location and the result was that the installers were unlikely to be able to pick it up and get it installed that day. They did not arrive and Jasmen indicated the installers would be at our home first thing the next morning. At around 10am the next morning we received an email indicating the vinyl flooring had just arrived and the installer would be there between noon and 1pm. A van with the flooring arrived at 1:15pm and the installer at 1:45pm and the work was completed at 2:15pm. The new vinyl flooring looks great and matches the old flooring perfectly. Note that the baseboards had to be lowered because of the change from carpeting to vinyl flooring. Our only complaint is that the installer’s caulking of the baseboards was unnecessary in some instances and suboptimal in a few locations.

We are so thrilled with everything Floor Coverings did for us. They were on top of it, creating a job well done very quickly which was super important to us. The hardwood turned out amazing, love the color. The carpet is great and priced right. I love the 4inch baseboards. They definitely give an updated feel to our 40 plus year old home. All of the workers were amazing at their craft, showed up on time, very nice, hard working. We were so happy with them!! Thank you so much Floor Coverings International!!

We had a great experience having carpet installed on our stairs. It was cost effective and completed in a timely manner. The 2 gentlemen that came to our home for the install were professional and courteous and the carpet looks fantastic!

So at the beginning of this experience I would have thought this would have been a 5 star review but by the end, sadly it became so frustrating that this review is the result. My wife and I have two cats a dog. The carpet in the house was in terrible shape to begin with but our two cats did a number on it. They pulled up the carpet in many places and also made holes in several places. Obviously it was time for a change and we wanted to stick with carpet. Getting a carpet that our cats wouldn't destroy was our highest priority. We got several quotes from other carpet companies but then Scott McAuliffe came in and really blew us away. I showed Scott what our cats had done and he then told us all about Shaw carpet. He said the reason why the cats are doing that is because the carpet is a looped carpet. He also said the backing of the carpet was also key to keeping the cats from tearing it up. I said ok what happens if they do tear it up? He said that it would be warrantied. We were obviously really drawn to that warranty because of what our cats have done to the old carpet. His quote came in quite a bit higher than everyone else but we thought it wouldn't hurt to ask if he could come down a bit because we wanted to work with him because of all the things he sold us on. He came down quite a bit and we decided it was worth it to pay a bit more to get the warranty than not. The day came to install and it snowed. No big deal, we pulled the vehicles out of the garage so they could cut the carpet in the garage. My wife stayed home with the animals while I went to work. Things went south around noon when I had to rush my wife to the hospital with unexpected pregnancy complications. I wasn't to worried about leaving the guys working in my house while I took my wife. Later when I was able to come back they were finishing up but were short a little bit on the carpet but no big deal. I needed to grab some things and make sure the animals were good before I locked up. I waited for them to finish and leave. Well as they were loading up I went into my garage. It was wrecked. Trash everywhere and it seemed like they had no intent to clean it up. So I went to grab one of my brooms off the wall and found both my brooms gone. I asked the crew and they found one of my brooms but the other one was missing. Kind of frustrating they used my brooms without asking and then took one of them. Well couldn't leave my garage trashed like that so I started cleaning. It wasn't till the very end did one of the crew members decide he should help. I shouldn't have had to clean my garage in the first place. A couple days go by (wife still in the hospital and me short on sleep due to sleeping at the hospital) I go home and find a small section of carpet in the basement where the cats had pulled it up. I thought no big deal I thought... WRONG! I texted Scott and told him what happened and said I assume its warrantied. He then replies "I don't think damage like that is covered. I don't think any carpet would stand up to that. They warranty for pet staining or normal wear" I was shocked when I heard this. I then told him we specifically asked about this because of the damage to the old carpet. He then started gas lighting me about how he would never have told me that or told me something like that was warrantied. He then gas lit me further by saying he never saw all the spots on the old carpet, even though I walked him around the house and showed him. He just kept gas lighting me and telling me he never would have told me that and sent me a link to shaws warranty. All this texting was happening while I was sitting at the hospital. I had no patience nor did I have the energy to deal with it. Typical sales guy, tells you one thing to get a sale then gas lights you and says he never told you any of that. If it wasn't for the fact that we specifically went with him because of the warranty he promised it wouldn't be a big deal but we wanted carpet and a warranty that would hold up to the cats. Above all terrible experience with Scott.

Had a great experience with them - from our consult with Scott who mapped out a variety of options with different budget considerations, to our installer Nick who was super nice and courteous. We will definitely use them again! We did LVP in the living area of the basement and rubber flooring in our gym (the photo is a little bad because we were moving things back in) but it all turned out great.

Just a wonderful company to work with from start to finish. Even when an issue popped up, the problem solving process to solve it was comprehensive and left us confident in the solution. The attention to detail is evident throughout the floors. We always received prompt answers to our questions. We are so very pleased with the end product!
