I had the pleasure of working with Travis and his assistant Lissie at Floor Coverings International (Carlsbad | Oceanside | San Marcos | Vista), and I can't say enough about how generous and helpful they were throughout the process. I'm an interior designer based in the Bay Area, helping my elderly parents in San Diego select new carpeting remotely, which added a layer of complexity to everything. From the very beginning, Travis and Lissie were incredibly responsive, patient, and willing to go above and beyond. They took the time to source and send multiple rounds of samples, talk through options with me, and really try to help us land on the right direction, despite not knowing me or whether the project would ultimately move forward with them. What stood out most was their professionalism and kindness. They treated the project with care and attention, even though it required extra coordination and didn't follow a typical, straightforward path. In the end, we needed someone local who could be on-site with my parents to guide the final selection in person, which wasn't a service they were positioned to provide given the distance. That said, the samples we were most drawn to aesthetically were ones Travis had sent, which speaks to how well he understood the brief. If you're in their service area and looking for a knowledgeable, honest, and genuinely helpful team, I would absolutely recommend Travis and Lissie. They are the kind of people you want to work with.

Deceptive billing, silica dust disaster, and legal threats This review is for: Floor Coverings International of Melbourne, FL (321) 499-2658 1270 Lake Washington Road Ste B Melbourne, FL 32935 Arthur Layman Tamara Whiteaker What started as a straightforward carpet replacement on our stairs turned into one of the worst contractor experiences I've had. Here's the full picture: Scheduling: Installers no-showed on the first scheduled date with no proactive communication. I had to call after they were already outside the arrival window to find out they weren't coming. Tile demo and dust: When installers discovered tile under the carpet, we were quoted a "worst case scenario" additional cost of $1,600 on top of the original $1,414.47. What they didn't mention was that the demo crew would leave every surface in our entire home — upstairs, downstairs, soft furnishings, drapes, and our HVAC system — coated in fine silica dust. No containment, no warning, no protection of any kind. This isn't just a mess, it's a serious health hazard. Even the lead demo worker acknowledged as he was leaving that he wouldn't be happy if it were his house. "Making it right": The company promised to make it right with a cleaning and a painter for the damaged walls and stairs. At no point during this process did anyone mention we would be charged for these remediation services. We have doorbell camera footage of the painter telling his worker that the flooring company was paying him — not us. The cleaning was incomplete, with silica dust remaining on soft surfaces and in the HVAC. Surprise invoice: After carpet was finally installed, we received an invoice with a painter line item exceeding $1,000 — no prior quote, no agreement, no breakdown. The work took under 2 hours and does not look good (bad sanding, one coat of paint - see through). We are going to get quotes to have it redone. The owner also revealed $200 of that line item was his personal fee for "coordinating" the painter. Threats: When my husband called to dispute the painter charge, the owner threatened small claims court if the full invoice wasn't paid within days, rather than engaging in any good-faith discussion. We are willing to pay what we actually agreed to despite the damage done to our home and belongings. Instead, we've been met with threats. Arthur failed to provide itemized cost breakdown as requested. Arthur failed to provide contractor license numbers as requested. Arthur subsequently sent a second threat for small claims court, followed by a threat to file a lien against our property. I mailed a letter and check for $2,329.14 (the total for what we had actually discussed), which was cashed. Arthur sent another letter threatening small claims again for the painter line item. On top of all of this, the carpet on the stairs looks like garbage. It is shedding all over even after vacuuming, the corners are popping out. We purchased the most expensive carpet option he showed us. I would give anything to go back in time and just leave the old carpet. This has not been an improvement to our home. This has been a nightmare.

It's very unfortunate for one employee to ruin an entire job. My elderly parents 80 and 83 years old. Sold an piece of property and had some extra money so they wanted new floors. We all sat down and looked at multiple flooring companies and came across FCI. I did extensive research and decided this was a good place to spend our money, After the carpet was laid one of the workers, Alex, came back to the job alone. He said he left something in my mothers bedroom, went in there for a few minutes and came out with nothing and hurried out the front door. We immediately checked the bedroom because this threw up lots of red flags and we found he had taken close to $200k in gold, jewel's and one $95k ring. So all of our family heirlooms where taken by the carpet layer. - FCI has been zero help in resolving this matter - I would not let one employee from this company in my home. Now my mother cries her self to sleep and is in deep depression because of this company. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. Their employees cannot be trusted.

We recently had our carpets installed and had a really great experience overall. The team went above and beyond in several areas that made the entire process smooth and stress-free. One of the biggest positives was that they handled moving all the furniture both before and after the installation. That saved us a lot of effort and made a huge difference. The carpet quality itself is excellent — it looks great, feels comfortable, and clearly reflects good materials. The crew was punctual and arrived exactly as scheduled, which we really appreciated. Throughout the process, a site manager also stopped by to check on the progress and proactively asked if we had any concerns. That level of attention gave us confidence that the job was being done right. After the installation, the team made sure to clean up everything thoroughly, including dust around the work areas. The place was left neat and tidy. Most importantly, the entire job was completed on time as promised. Overall, very professional service, high-quality work, and a team that clearly cares about customer satisfaction. Would definitely recommend!

Having purchased an old house in 1988 and had every room renovated in some fashion (some more than once) I can unequivocally state that our experience with Floor Coverings International was exceptional. The owner, Dalia Debs, was personable, knowledgeable and conscientious. From the first meeting (she came to our house, with samples of Luxury Vinyl Plank) to the walk-through after the project was finished it was a pleasure to work together (well, they did the work). We had received a quote from another company that included removing the old floor and placing new subflooring at an exorbitant cost--Shawn, FCI's installer (selected by Dalia as he had extensive experience with the existing floor, which was marmoleum) said he could install the new floor over the previous one. The entire project was done at a lower price than the other company had wanted for removal alone. Shawn also was great--on time, congenial, explained what he was doing and why, finished the entire job in two days and it looks beautiful. Again, I can't praise FCI of Lexington enough--you'll be glad you chose them!

We could not be more pleased with the new flooring in our home. Bob has 100s of choices and brings them to your home. It was great to be able to look at them against my current flooring. This was one of my favorite things! When everything was installed, Bob wanted to be sure that everything was perfect. We had a few dings that needed repair and Bob had an awesome handyman at our house right away. Who does that? Most places would walk away saying that’s just part of flooring replacement. We are thrilled with our new floors and the level of customer service we received. 10/10 recommend.

From the quote & product selection with Katie, to the installation scheduling with Patrick, and the actual installation of the selected carpeting, the whole process was surprisingly simple and final product beautiful. The Installer Team were so friendly and polite, it was a long day but Dan, Keith and Scott were friendly and professional from start to finish. Patrick did final walk through and provided the care and warranty information. 15 year warranty.
