Ron, a lifelong wood enthusiast and former engineer at Remington Arms, has always been captivated by the natural beauty of wood. His passion for selecting and working with unique pieces of wood has shaped much of his life — from crafting custom gunstocks to now designing a home that showcases his love for the material. With his health battle adding urgency to this project, it became a deeply personal endeavor — a legacy he wanted to leave for Kathy and their family.
The Design: Custom, Warm, and One-of-a-Kind
Ron and Kathy wanted their new floors to embody both elegance and individuality. The 900-square-foot space, spanning the family room, living room, and dining area, features stunning engineered hardwood from Mirage. This premium choice was ideal for its quality, durability, and compatibility with heated floors — a special addition to enhance the comfort of the family room.
Every detail was tailored to their tastes, from the intricate borders using two complementary wood tones to the diagonal wood installation in the family room. At the heart of the project is a breathtaking custom medallion designed by Ron himself — a testament to his artistic vision and hands-on approach. Many of the wood pieces were milled onsite to ensure a perfect fit and alignment with Ron’s exacting standards.
